Spring is magic for music and instrumental piano and vocal gigs! Being a singing pianist in Los Angeles has it’s ups and downs – it’s a very competitive industry! With that said, I enjoyed several lovely afternoons performing instrumental piano at a Los Angeles outdoor cafe doing jazz standards, classic rock and oldies, even a couple of improvised originals!. I also did several Sunday Service events where I played piano and sang songs to set the mood for inspiring and uplifting sermons, helped a local performer work on an “unplugged” rendition of one of his original recorded songs, and began outreach to book performances for Senior Assisted Living locations.
A really special highlight was as piano accompanist for a seasoned rock singer at a beautiful pavilion playing their immaculately tuned Yamaha model C 7’6 grand piano. It was a very satisfying performance!
I’ve also been enjoying dates at Los Angeles prime steakhouses, especially Larsen’s in Valencia, where instrumental solo piano helps create a magical atmosphere to an already hip and very upscale establishment! And more of those coming
I also booked a couple of band events, where I’ll be leading a rock quartet for a private graduation party in Whittier, and a special event all the way in San Diego! Road trip!!!!
Since I also have a background doing live sound, I enjoy these band events as I know how to get things sounding great for the client, as well as being able to lead a band on stage, sing great rock songs from the jazz years, the 60s, 70s and 80s, with some contemporary hits mixed in to keep people happy and dancing. So I’ll be closing out the Spring season with a bang, and I’m booking for the Summer months like crazy!
